Potty Training Girls

From my experience having two girls and then a boy it’s much easier to potty train girls than it is boys. First, Moms are usually the ones to do the training and since they usually spend the most time with them it’s easy to get a little girl to sit on a potty and at least try.

Secondly little girls tend to be able to control their bladders better and at an earlier age than little boys. You will usually find that your little girl will wake up dry after naps or even in the morning sometime around the age of 2.

Once you see that your little girl is waking up dry you can start to teach her to sit on the potty. I did this by having her go in with me and she would sit down and I would sit down and she would “try” and go. Even if she doesn’t praise her for trying because she is becoming a big girl now!

You can also take her out and have her pick out panties with her favorite characters on them. Let’s say it’s Little Mermaid, talk to her so she can understand that Ariel doesn’t like to be wet so she needs to let you know when she FEELS like she has to go potty. At first this might be several times in an hour, but after awhile she will really understand what that feeling is and will have a better understanding of when it is she needs to go.

Remember that consistency is key when potty training girls and having patience will go a long way because they will have accidents. But if you are consistent and patient and give a lot of praise she will do very well and it will go much quicker.

Potty training girls takes time; it might take a few months or more depending on YOU and how consistent you are. Even slacking a few days can put you back a month so try to make every day count.

You can get a sticker chart and put a start sticker for every time she wakes up dry, whether it’s from a nap or after sleeping all night and a smiley sticker for every time she at least tries to go on the potty and if she does go BIG praise!!

In time she will like not going in her panties and won’t want them soiled to just stick with it! You can do this and everyone will come out a winner in the end.

The Best Guide When It Comes To Raising A Child

Raising children is challenging! Parenting is not easy to do! You may not feel ready for the task ahead of you. However, raising responsible children can be done! What a delight it is! Following are some ideas to make child rearing made easier:

Are you frustrated by a messy playroom day after day? Make cleaning up a game and ask your children to join in. Sing a song or dance around as you clean. Challenge everyone to pick up at least five toys. Doing this will motivate your children to help and make cleaning up a little more fun for all.

Don’t be afraid to take some time out of the day for yourself. Being a parent is a stressful job. Children are very sensitive to the moods and attitudes of their parents, and if you become irritable or unhappy, they will also become unhappy. Happy children start with a happy parent.

It is important that you recognize the signs that your child is ready to start using the toilet. By pushing them to use it when they are not ready, you can actually delay the whole process. Some signs of readiness include having regular bowel movements, staying dry for at least two consecutive hours, and coming out and asking to use the potty.

Do not let your children gang up on you. If you are a typical couple than once you reach three children they will already outnumber you and your spouse. One good technique to avoid this is to have confrontations with children one and one. This prevents the giggles from setting in and you are able to maintain your authority.

If you are a new mom of twins, ASK FOR HELP! Not asking for help is one of the worst things that moms of twins do. Having newborn twins is not the same as having one baby. Take anyone and every one’s offer of help whether doing some grocery shopping, running the dishwasher, or just sitting with the sleeping babies for you to get a break. You will be a better mom for it.

A great being a parent tip is to look at the efforts of your own parents as a base to work from and not the only way to raise your child. There’s nothing worse than repeating the same mistakes with your child that your parents made on you. Always strive to come to your own solutions.

Invest in one of the customized music CDs that have your child’s name included in the songs. This will keep their attention as you sit through a long line of traffic. This can be used in long car rides, flights, or even train rides. It will be well worth the investment.

A great raising a child tip is to not try and fill your child’s head with your own opinions and beliefs all the time. It is understandable that you want the best for your child, but you have no right to tell them how they should think or feel about everything.

Get to know all of the people who are a part of your child’s life. You need to take the time to know your child’s teachers, day care workers, doctors and anyone else that may play a role in their lives. It will benefit you in many ways but it will also benefit your child by you knowing that they are in good hands.

Let your child go barefoot as much as possible. There are multitudes of adorable footwear these days to adorn your little ones tootsie’s, but for the health of baby’s feet, barefoot is the way to go. Many pediatricians suggest that non-constraint of a child’s feet will promote their natural growth and your child would probably say it’s a lot more comfortable, anyway!

If your child wants to be different, let him or her! Stifling a child’s creativity can really retard their mental growth, so let them dress how they want or wear whatever Halloween costume that they wish. If they want to wear a princess dress to school, why not? It’s not hurting anyone!

When your child starts school it is important to make sure that they know what to expect. If at all possible you should take your child on a tour of their school before they attend. This will help them to feel prepared and may help relieve some of the anxiety they may be experiencing.

Every child needs to play. You can improve your child’s upbringing by ensuring that his or her daily schedule has some time free for unstructured play every day. This should be time away from television or video games, and ideally outdoors. Join in your child’s play to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle.

Choose a day, or a time during the day, and reserve it for family time. You can have a movie or game night, eat dinner together as a unit or have theme nights. These events encourage communication and make your children feel special. They also help them feel more secure in their family.

When you are teaching discipline to your children, teach them the consequences of their actions. They do not understand consequences at a young age and need to become aware of them. An example would be, “if you do not bring your toys in from outside they may get stolen or ruined from the weather”.

Toddlers can be picky when it comes to trying new foods. Studies show that a toddler might have to try a food 10-15 times before they like it. Encourage them to try a bite, if they do not like it try it again in a few days. You will be able to tell if they are going to ‘bite’ or not.

Communicating with your child regularly from an early age is very important. Not only does this directly help with basic things such as vocabulary and pronunciation, but it also helps them to become more comfortable communicating with you. You want your child to grow up in an environment where they feel comfortable communicating with and coming to you. It becomes significantly harder to establish this kind of environment as they get older.

So, are you ready for the challenge? Sure you are! Apply the suggestions that are practical to your individual child. No doubt, your hard work will be rewarded when your child reaches adulthood and is a delightful, responsible person!

Some Parenting Tips

Parenting should be a joyful experience, and it can be if you learn the proper skills needed to effectively do the job. This article offers a selection of no-nonsense ideas and inspiration for easing the stress of parenthood and improving the quality of time spend with your children.

When setting up your nursery, remember that you do not need to spend a ton of money to create a nice space. It is possible to buy high quality cribs, changing tables, blankets and other baby paraphernalia for much less money at department stores like Walmart. Friends and family members may be willing to donate items that are no longer being used.

Remember that your child looks to you for guidance. Your kids need to know that you are trustworthy.

Make sure never to get a toddler or child soda of any kind. Stick with drinks which provide your child nutrients like water, juice or milk.

Smoking with children in your home can really have negative consequences on their health, so try not to do it in your home. In fact, why not quit smoking altogether? Secondhand smoke is just as bad as actually smoking. Second-hand smoke exposure can lead to asthma, bronchitis and other respiratory problems for children.

When driving for long distances with a toddler or young child, make sure you stop often so they don’t get bored or irritable. You will have a far more pleasant trip if you take your time, with frequent breaks to relieve the tedium for everyone. Restaurants, parks and rest stops that have areas where your children can play, are ideal places to stop to let them run around a bit before continuing the journey.

Kids want to appear independent, so letting them do tasks while you clean can help boost their confidence. Have your child help you unload the dishwasher. Children enjoy helping with laundry so let them fold towels or socks. These little tasks will help your child feel involved and responsible, while helping you out at the same time.

If your child is adopted, understand that you will have to answer some tough questions when your kid becomes an appropriate age. Children who have been adopted are curious as to how they came about in this world. Eventually, they will want some answers, and you’ll be the person they’ll turn to. Do not lie to them about their biological family, it will only make them hold resentment toward you if they find out the truth.

You should find the family checkpoint line when you are going through the airport security checks. These days, most airlines offer them. This way, you can take your time and you will not have to deal with other impatient travelers. Everything is going to have to go through an x-ray machine, such as the kids’ shoes and their car seats.

For children who suffer from ADHD or behavioral conditions, an important thing a parent can do is be sure the child is kept busy. Children with ADHD and behavior issues are often energetic and need stimulation to keep their attention on positive behaviors. You should try letting your child ride a bike for 30 minutes a day or you could both go out to a park for an hour.

It is rarely okay to show your anger as a parent. As a parent, restrain from letting anger influence your behavior. If you become overly angry, the child’s self esteem can be reduced, as well as make them more frustrated. It is especially bad to get angry at a child when they make honest mistakes.

If your child says ‘I want’ a lot, this is a sign you are granting them too much. Make sure, when responding to children’s demands, that you always stay in control of the situation. If you give them something they want, make sure it’s because you’ve decided to. You want to avoid letting your child think that he or she is in charge. If your child thinks he or she can control you, you’re in for a difficult ride.

Your child will be more obedient with a routine including meal times and bed time. The key is consistency when implementing these routines. This will help your child become well-adjusted and well-behaved. So, always follow through with routines.

To aid your children in coping with bullying, it is helpful to discuss the topic with your children and relate your experiences. Contact the school to see what policies have been implemented, and be sure that your children know who can help at school.

A great way to start is to open up a 529 Plan and contribute to it regularly. These plans are state operated, and they help you save for your kids’ futures. They also have positive tax consequences.

Keep up-to-date with what is going on in your child’s classroom. Teachers are glad to let parents know what is going on with their child when at school. Use this and learn everything you can about how your child is doing in school.

Be sure to give your child a multitude of opportunities to explore the world and encourage their sensory development. Whether your child is smelling the dinner ingredients before you add them to your plate, touching whatever you are touching or putting their teething toys in their mouth, they are sure to enjoy every opportunity you are giving them to explore the world around them. Keep an eye out for things that have unique textures, smells, flavors, and colors that your child might like to experience.

Give a young child specific places where his or her belongings should go in order to encourage a tendency towards neatness. Your child’s toys will be everywhere if you do not instill the right organizational skills in him or her from the beginning. Children love to learn, so if you teach them how to put his things away properly, they will be able to do it themselves after playing with them.

As you have read in this article, parenting correctly can make a chore seem like a breeze. Taking advice from people who have been in similar situations is a great way to address a problem. So try applying the tips you have learned here to your own circumstances.

Getting Your Kids Interested In The Arts

There is a time in every parent’s life that he or she becomes frustrated when trying to communicate with a child. Read this article to learn more about communicating with your child and parenting in general.

Clear some room on a counter near the sink, have your child lay down, and then run the faucet over his hair and skin. Many toddlers fear having their hair rinsed by dunking their head underwater, so this method should take away some of that anxiety.

Try to maintain your usual routines with regard to sleeping and eating when you travel with a young child. Traveling can be stressful for youngsters, especially babies. If you stick with your child’s bedtime ritual, they will be more comfortable, and fall asleep more easily.

Parents must be careful not to apply too much pressure when children reach their teenage years and get ready to pick a college. The teenage strategy of doing the opposite of what is expected of them is a common response to feeling powerless and controlled.

A young child should never drink soda. Only give your child drinks that offer nutrients and vitamins. Milk, water and juices are great examples of drinks that are good to offer your child.

If your child is not having an easy time cutting teeth, try putting cucumbers, carrots, or sour pickles in their mesh teether. When the object has a taste, your infant will gnaw longer. The longer you can get your child to use the teething device, the more relief they will have during the day.

Establishing clear boundaries and using positive reinforcement will lead to happier, more well adjusted children. Instead of saying “Don’t hit your brother,” say, “Touch other people gently.”

Always bring a beloved blanket or toy for young children that are traveling. Vacations are meant to be fun and relaxing, but children can feel uprooted and their routines feel disrupted. Your toddler will adjust more easily to the new place with the help of their favorite toy or a cuddly blanket.

Do not keep junk food in the house. If you do not have chips, cookies and candy in the home, your child will be less likely to ask for it. Consider these treats only on special occasions, such as during Halloween and Christmas.

Children with ADHD, Aspergers or other conditions that contribute to impulsive behavior shouldn’t be allowed to have too much unstructured time on their hands. Children who suffer with ADHD need to be able to expel their extra energy, in order to avoid bad behavior. A trip to the park or a bicycle ride are great ways to get some fresh air and exercise.

If children are experiencing behavioral issues, a good strategy is to employ positive reinforcement for good choices. Sometimes, these negative behaviors are just a way for children to express themselves. Many children are unsure of how to show their feelings properly. Showing them how to express themselves properly is the best way to help them.

Children love their playtime. Playing helps children develop fine motor skills, as well as social skills. Parents would be smart to not just leave their children playing on their own.

Good parents make the time to praise good behavior from their children. Kids need attention. If kids cannot grab caregivers’ attention with good behavior, they resort to poor behavior. It is easy to only notice the bad things a child does when you are a parent. It is a mistake to only pay attention to those things, though. Reward your child when they do well.

Create a rules list that your kids should know. Also, let them know the consequences of breaking those rules. Seeing the rules in place will provide your children necessary boundaries, and also reflect your love and good intentions for them. Having rules makes it easier on both parents.

If your child hates the taste of medicine, try disguising the taste with something sweet. Orange juice is a great choice because it is so flavorful, or simply stirring a little bit of sugar with the medication may mask the taste enough to have your child take it without any fuss. If you are putting eyedrops in a child’s eye, have them close the eye and put the drop onto the eyelid. When they open their eyes, you will see that the eye drop falls directly in.

Having a routine in a child’s life will make them feel comfortable because they know exactly what to expect. It is best to focus on meal times, homework and bedtimes in particular. If you have a routine, you will have a better behaved child, always follow through.

Children should learn that life is sometimes difficult, without excess burden placed on them. Seeing how those situations are handled will teach your child how to properly handle situations in the future and will provide valuable problem-solving skills. Being aware that problems can arise also eases your child into understanding the realities of life.

Parenting for toddlers! If you have toddlers who are acting out or being bad, you should try to get them to realize the world does not revolve around them. If your kids are being particularly disobedient, consider placing them in a “time-out” as a means of discipline.

It is important to give your child exposure to a plethora of sensory development items. Whether your child is smelling the dinner ingredients before you add them to your plate, touching whatever you are touching or putting their teething toys in their mouth, they are sure to enjoy every opportunity you are giving them to explore the world around them. Try to find different textures, smells, tastes, and even colors to entertain and develop your child’s mind.

Develop a hand signal that you can teach your child, and use it to alert them that the behavior that they are exhibiting is inappropriate. This technique can give them a warning that they are in trouble before any punishment is administered.

Remember to apply these tips the next time you are faced with a parenting challenge. Being a good parent can be a tremendous responsibility, but it can be a great source of satisfaction as you watch your child grow into an independent adult.

Parenting Performance Can Be Improved

Becoming a parent is one of the single most momentous experiences on earth. This article contains tips designed to help you be a better parent in these challenging times. Parenting is a road that takes commitment and dedication; let the information here prepare you for the journey.

If you are about to have a baby, do not go out and spend thousands of dollars on nursery equipment. All the necessary baby items, such as a crib, blanket or changing table, can be bought at department stores like a K-Mart or Walmart for much cheaper while still giving you high quality. Friends and family members may be willing to donate items that are no longer being used.

Even though time with your kids is important, it is also important to make time for yourself. Drawing and enforcing this boundary allows you to maintain your individuality while still being an excellent parent.

Transitions are hard on preschoolers. Changing activities suddenly can often result in a crying spell and stress out the child.

It is critical that you have personal time, free of your children. Get a friend or family member to take care of your kids, even if it’s only for a couple of hours. You need to de-stress away from your kids, both for your sake and for theirs.

You can make a natural teether by putting carrots, pickles or a cucumber into a mesh teether to soothe a child who is teething. There are many items your child could chew on like a teething ring, but a tasty item is much more likely to be gnawed upon. The more they chew, the more progress they make and the better they inevitably feel.

Framing clear family rules that use positive words can go a long way to help reduce fighting and help your children to get along with each other. For instance, instead of saying “no hitting” as a rule, you can reposition it as “always be gentle when touching”.

When you are traveling, bring those items that are seen as comfort to your toddler or young child. Vacations are meant to be fun and relaxing, but children can feel uprooted and their routines feel disrupted. Making your child happy with unfamiliar surroundings may require nothing more than bringing along a beloved blanket or favorite toy.

If you adopted your child, your child is probably going to find out at some point and start asking questions. Often adopted children want to know where they are from; you will need to be prepared to answer them. Never hide the truth about their biological parents. This will help to avoid resentment or anger later on if they find the truth out for themselves.

You want your child to explore his or her interests and develop skills. This can happen through playing on a sports team or taking an art or music class after school. This will let your children learn social skills and develop their ability to make friends, both are important skills necessary throughout their lives. Filling your children’s lives with positive activities also makes it hard for them to see the appeal, or even find time, for negative ones.

If your child has ADHD or a similar condition, it is important that you keep him or her busy. These children have high energy and little ability to control their impulses; if their energy isn’t redirected in positive ways, they may act out or engage in negative behaviors. Make sure that your child’s daily schedule includes some physical activity, too, such as an hour of playtime at the park or an hour of bike riding.

Remember that not every child has a gregarious personality. Some children are naturally introverted, and that doesn’t necessary mean there is something wrong with them. If you see that your child is not exhibiting any social interaction, you may want to intervene. If you feel that your child is overly withdrawn, you should go see their pediatrician. The doctor will be able to determine if there is anything going on that should concern you.

Good parents will always praise their children for good behavior. All kids need and want attention. They will do whatever they can to get it, including engaging in bad behavior if doing the right thing garners them no attention at all. Ignoring a child’s good behavior can be very dangerous, because it can tempt the child to display poor behavior just because they are so desperate for attention.

When potty training, having a schedule of going to the bathroom every few hours is essential. Toddlers are still learning how to tell you when they need to go and, unfortunately, they often tell you too late. Escorting a child to the potty every two hours will prevent the majority of accidents. Soon, he will start to notice the urges himself.

If your efforts to calm your baby aren’t working, try to dab some lavender oil on your neck, then hold your baby close. The fragrance from this should actually relax your child. Lavender oil can also be used to help a child fall to sleep when nap time arrives because the oil is very calming.

When you have a routine, your children are better able to cope. Keep a schedule of major daily events. When a child has consistency at home, they tend to be more well-behaved and well-adjusted. Also make sure you follow through with any plans that you make with your children.

Being open and honest with your children on the topic of bullying is the most effective way to help them handle their own bullying issues. Research your local school’s policies and educate your children to ask for help from available adults during school hours.

Sometimes being a parent can be a difficult task, but with the advice in the article you should be better prepared to make good decisions. The information in this article can be your foundation in building a wonderful relationship with your greatest gift. Parenting is a great opportunity and you should do your best to enjoy it.

Never give any type of soda to a baby or toddler. Only give your children foods and drinks that will provide nutrients, vitamins and minerals that they need to learn and grow.

It is critical that you have personal time, free of your children. You can let family and friends care for your children for a few hours to even a whole weekend. Parents can get stressed from the constant demands of parenting and need to take the time for themselves to to relax, which will have a positive benefit on the entire household.

All children that walk to school need to have reflective materials affixed to clothing and backpacks. It is easy to attach and remove the material from these items when it is purchased as strips with Velcro backing. This enables crossing guards and drivers to see your child more clearly and from a farther distance, particularly early in the morning when it is sometimes still dusky.

Don’t smoke at home when you have kids. Even better, quit smoking. Secondhand smoke is just as bad as actually smoking. Children who are exposed to second-hand smoke on a regular basis are at greater risk for developing respiratory illnesses, asthma and cancer.

Every child has his or her own unique character. The methods that are effective for one of your children might not work on another. That is the case with rewards, and punishments as well. However, you should remember what worked on other children and try that first, before moving on to new methods if necessary.

A mesh teether can work wonders; if your children are having trouble cutting their teeth you can put cucumbers, carrots or pickles in one of these to help. While plastic or rubber teethers are effective, offering your child a teething aid with a flavor will encourage him or her to keep gnawing. The longer you can get your child to use the teething device, the more relief they will have during the day.

Establishing clear rules stated in positive language for family members to follow can be quite helpful in reducing conflict and helping your kids get along. “Touch gently” puts a positive spin on a rule that prohibits hitting.

You can keep toddlers interested and stimulated by regularly rotating their playthings. Often, small children simply forget about a toy if it is not regularly in their field of vision. Unless the toy in question is a cherished favorite, most objects fail to hold toddlers’ interests for more than a day or so. Keeping things in rotation preserves the sense of curiosity kids have in their toys, and removes the need to keep buying new ones.

It is important to realize that stepchildren do not always like their new stepparent right away. If you are becoming a stepparent soon, it is important to keep this in your thoughts at all times. Often, children continue to want their parents to reunite. It takes time to develop a trusting relationship, so not rushing things will make the transition easier on the both of you.

If you have adopted a child, be ready to answer a lot of questions that might come up when they understand what this means. They will be curious about their biological parents and the reason for the adoption. Be as open and honest with them as possible; lying is never the best tactic and could cause them to resent you.

Not every child is extroverted, and as a parent, you need to realize that. It is okay if your child is shy. It is important to notice if your child is overly withdrawn. If your child appears overly withdrawn, you may wish to discuss his or her behavior with a pediatrician. This allows you to identify potential problems before they become more pronounced.

It is important to establish a list of expectations for your child. Make sure that they know what will happen if they break the rules. Children thrive when their environment is a structured one. Creating such an environment requires that these rules and consequences are clearly understood by all. Having an established set of rules will also simplify and help to de-stress your parenting time.

When potty training a toddler, you must routinely take the child to the restroom. It is hard for toddlers to remember they have to go. You can minimize these accidents by taking your child in the bathroom for a try frequently. This will help him remember that he might need to go.

Get your baby to calm down with a lavender oil massage on the neck. The smell should instantly soothe your child. Lavender oil is extremely calming and also works for getting babies to take naps.

Using something sweet to mask the taste of medicine will make it more palatable to your child. Orange juice is a great choice because it is so flavorful, or simply stirring a little bit of sugar with the medication may mask the taste enough to have your child take it without any fuss. When eye drops must be applied, have your child close his or her eyes and place the drop in the corner of the eyelid. Then, when the eye is opened, the eye drops will be right there and fall straight in.

Explain to your child what bullying is and why it is wrong. Encourage them to tell you about their experiences and share your own. Research your local school’s policies and educate your children to ask for help from available adults during school hours.
